Korean Noble Cuisine: Sofitel Manila features Chef Lily Min's elevated Korean cuisine

In partnership with Korean cuisine specialist Chef Lily Min, Sofitel Manila transforms the vibrant and delicate tastes of the land of morning calm into an amazing feast over the course of a month-long culinary experience.

Chef Lily Min is a culinary expert with over 30 years of experience. She has honed her skills through extensive studies and specialized training courses. Her culinary repertoire is vast, ranging from confectionary and bread-making to traditional Korean cuisine. She is particularly renowned for her expertise in Korean Royal Cuisine and has also mastered the art of making various types of kimchi. Additionally, Chef Lily Min is well-versed in Chinese culinary cuisine, showcasing her versatility and passion for cooking.

Her mastery of Korean culinary artistry led her to be a renowned cookbook author of 3 books, Preo & Dios Cookbook and Easy Korean Food 114, both published in South Korea and the K-drama Cookbook released and published in 2020 here in the Philippines. In the same year, she launched her own brand, “Lily Lab,” which sells authentic Korean retail and deli products. Recognized as the Ambassador of Korean Cuisine in the country, Chef Lily Min also offers cooking classes at the Korean Culture Center of the Philippines.

A Korean Royal Feast and Masterclass at Spiral

Chef’s Seasonal Favorite at Le Bar

Chef Lily Min highlights one of her signature dishes at Le Bar, Sofitel Manila’s lobby restaurant and lounge. A tender and decadent beef patty served with a refreshing salad, Le Bar offers Ddeokgalbi or Korean minced, seasoned, and grilled beef ribs. A famous dish from Damyang, South Korea, this meat off the bone shows a unique way of preparing and presenting Korean grilled beef on a plate for that one-of-a-kind dining experience.

Adding some commentary about the event, it's nice that I get to meet Chef Lily Min again. I've been learning Korean cuisine at her cooking class at the Korean Cultural Center of the Philippines. The ingredients used and cooking techniques she taught were based on authentic Korean cooking, backed by history and science.

Royal desserts were also showcased at the event, as was a lunch box called dosirak wrapped in bojagi, a traditional Korean way of wrapping.

Performers from Korean Cultural Center of the Philippines also showed Korean traditional dances during the event.
