Hapag Movement Exceeds Hunger Relief Goal, Aids 120,000+ Families

The Hapag Movement, Globe's heartfelt initiative to combat hunger in the Philippines, has impressively achieved its impact goal one year ahead of schedule. With the collective support of Globe and TM customers, corporate donors, and dedicated mobilization partners, the program has reached over 120,000 Filipino families in need.

Initially aiming to assist 100,000 families by the end of 2025, the movement raised an astonishing Php 25.37 million in 2024 alone, bringing the total funds raised since 2022 to Php 53 million. This generous support has enabled the program to provide meals to 120,455 families facing food insecurity.

“The remarkable backing for the Hapag Movement showcases the unwavering commitment of individuals, businesses, and organizations that share our vision of tackling involuntary hunger in the Philippines. Achieving this milestone sooner than we expected only strengthens our resolve to broaden our efforts and create lasting change,” expressed Yoly Crisanto, Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer at Globe.

Since its inception, the Hapag Movement has collaborated with esteemed organizations such as the Ayala Foundation, Scholars of Sustenance, Tzu Chi Foundation, and World Vision. In 2024, it welcomed three new mobilization partners—Rise Against Hunger, the UN World Food Programme, and Project PEARLS—aiming to shine a spotlight on the persistent hunger issues in the Philippines and reach even more communities in need.

The Hapag Movement has garnered support from over 1.1 million Globe and TM subscribers, who generously donated Php 11.67 million in Rewards points via the GlobeOne app. This collective effort has accounted for 23% of all assistance provided through the platform.

Additionally, 1,871 Globe employees enthusiastically participated in various Hapag Movement activities in 2024, demonstrating their commitment to making a meaningful difference.

To amplify its impact, the Hapag Movement introduced innovative fundraisers like the “Ibalik ang Sarap ng Pasko” holiday drive in partnership with SMAC, seamlessly integrating donations into holiday shopping. They also launched the Gourmet Giving Series, featuring fine dining fundraising events with 12 top restaurants in Metro Manila, all in collaboration with the Facebook community Fine Dining Club Philippines.

Harnessing the power of fandoms, the program enlisted support from passionate communities such as Blackpink and BTS fans, Electronic Sports Gaming Summit gamers, ToyCon collectors, Lyropera enthusiasts, and Kwentoon artists to encourage contributions.

Valuable support has also come from the Rotary Club of Makati Business District, BPI Foundation, and Kumu, among others.

With its initial target surpassed, the Hapag Movement is now focusing on scaling its livelihood training programs nationwide, empowering families with sustainable means of supporting themselves.

Additionally, the initiative is exploring ways to combat child stunting, ensuring Filipino children receive the proper nutrition they need during their critical early years.

The Hapag Movement remains steadfast in its commitment to fighting hunger and poverty in the Philippines. Supporters can continue contributing through the GlobeOne app and GCash to help sustain and expand its impact.
