PIXEL Academy returns; invites the modern creator in you

PIXEL Academy, the creator development program initiated by content monetization platform PIXEL, returned this year with an exciting lineup of workshops designed to empower the ever-evolving creator generation, the GEN C. The Academy kicked off its first session last Saturday, April 25, 2026.

“PIXEL Academy has become a space for our community of creators to gather and share their experiences and ideas,” said Let Perez, PIXEL Product Owner & Director of Creators & Communities. Now in its third year, the Academy seeks to bring together creators, industry professionals, and platform experts to discuss the most important topics shaping the creator economy today. For the first session, attendees had the opportunity to listen to a discussion led by cosplayer and content creator Kang Dupet, where she focused on creator relevance in 2026 and delved into a creator’s role in today’s age of AI. With years of content creation experience under her belt, she shared her journey, which started in 2011, noting that her beginnings were not always smooth sailing.

Creator Relevance in 2026

Kang delved into the differences of the creator landscape in 2011, as compared to 2026, highlighting how growth was more challenging in 2011, while today’s platforms have made it more accessible for creators to begin their content journeys. Despite these shifts, she emphasized that consistency and adaptability remain key factors in staying relevant in an ever-evolving industry. Personal brand building has also become extremely important, as audiences are keen to know the creator’s most authentic qualities. This means not just churning out content that is simply trendy in the moment, but making their personalities shine through it and building a niche around that.

AI for assistance, not a replacement

While AI has been ever-evolving, Kang recognizes how it is making its mark in modern society. In adapting to the times, AI can be used as a way of assistance, whether it be for sounding off rough ideas or even for organizational purposes. However, she reminded her fellow content creators that AI cannot replace their souls or their work, and that creativity is all their own. Content creators are successful because of their humanness and how they are able to relate to their audiences.

Prioritizing mental health

Since content creation has become a more popular industry in today’s age, creators may feel more pressure to produce content in order to receive income. Kang mentions that creators should always be rooted back in their “why,” reiterating that at the end of the day, it should still be fulfilling for them. Their communities will also serve as an anchor, to be part of the reason that creating content makes a difference in the world.

“When I took a step back from creating, my following was really at a decline,” Kang readily admitted during the discussion. “But when I finally returned after I felt ready, the name that I had made for myself worked in my favor. I was surprised that well-known brands still wanted to work with me, but I realized people knew me already from the years of work I put in, and that was a relief on my part.”

Building a community

The workshop also underscored the importance of cultivating a strong community rather than simply accumulating followers. Emphasis was brought upon the passion that the creators feel towards their communities, and how their audiences motivate them to use their platforms to make a difference in the world. Kang also shared how networking and creating that connection with her community have helped her through the rougher patches of her creator journey.

Through this series, PIXEL continues its commitment to building a stronger, more elevated creator ecosystem that equips both beginner and seasoned creators with the necessary tools for navigating today’s creator economy.

PIXEL Academy will continue with two more sessions this 2026 on May 23 and June 27. To learn more about PIXEL, visit its Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok pages for more event details and updates.
